BC wines bear a special designation known as BC VQA Wine, indicating that the wine is made from 100% BC-grown grapes and has passed rigorous quality inspections.

  1. As of 2023, British Columbia (BC) has 341 licensed wine producers, constituting over 80% of Canada's wine industry. The wine production in BC reached 24.7 million liters in 2019, representing 65% of the total Canadian production.

  2. During the same period, BC had 1234 grape vineyards covering an area exceeding 12,680 acres.

The wine industry in British Columbia (BC) makes a significant contribution to the local economy and tourism.

 

Each year, BC's wineries attract over 1.2 million visitors, generating a revenue of over 600 million Canadian dollars. BC VQA Wine holds a market share exceeding 19% in the province, second only to non-VQA BC-produced wines.

 

Additionally, BC wines are exported to various countries and regions globally, including China, Japan, the United States, and more.
